How do I find things on the Internet? The Internet is so vast that even the most experienced surfers are familiar with only a small percentage of its millions of sites. So how can you find information if you don't know the name of a site? Search engines are available on the Internet to find information for you! They're fast, efficient, free, and best of all, they're easy to use.
Search engines are simply pages on the Internet like any other, except that they are designed to do the work for you. They take a keyword or series of keywords entered in the text box by the user and retrieve a list of matching sites. There are many different search engines some that only search for Canadian Sites and others that search the entire web universe. Beside the text box is a command button, labeled "Search", "Find", "Seek", " Fetch", etc. Simply type your topic into the box, click on the command button, and sit back as the search engine searches the internet for you. Then read through the summaries of the sites it has found for you and choose the one you are looking for. |
